ABSTRACT

The present case report aimed to compare the use of a coronal advanced flap (CAF) associated with a connective tissue graft (CTG) with a coronal advanced flap (CAF) associated with a xenogeneic acellular dermal matrix (XDM) in the treatment of Miller’s Class I multiple gingival recessions in a split-mouth randomized clinical case report. A patient with Miller class I bilateral multiple recessions was selected for the study, and treatment on each side of the maxilla (CAF + CTG or CAF + XDM) was randomly assigned. Clinical parameters such as gingival recession (GR), height of keratinized tissue (KT), clinical attachment level (CAL) and probing depth (PD) were assessed at baseline, 6 months and 1 year after surgery. Clinically, the results of the present case report showed that both treatments, CAF + CTG or CAF + XDM, are effective for the treatment of Miller Class I multiple maxillary recessions, with similar gains in KT, CAL, and reductions in PD and GR.

Key words – Gingival recession/surgery; Gingival recession/ treatment; Acellular dermal matrix; Connective tissue graft.
