Canalis sinuosus: importância anatômica e considerações para procedimentos cirúrgicos: revisão de literatura

RESUMO

Objetivos: Realizar uma revisão de literatura sobre o Canalis Sinuosus e sua implicação na Implantodontia. Materiais e Métodos: Foram coletados artigos nas bases de dados Pubmed, Bireme e Scielo, a partir de uma busca booleana com os descritores “canalis sinuosusAND “complicações” AND “maxila”, no período entre 2016 a dezembro de 2024. Resultados: Foram encontrados 34 artigos nas bases de dados. A partir dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão foram selecionados 12 artigos (9 estudos retrospectivos, 1 prospectivo, 1 transversal e 1 descritivo). A frequência do Canalis Sinuosus é de 50,86%, sendo mais prevalente no sexo masculino, localizando-se predominantemente em incisivo central superior e incisivo lateral superior e em alguns casos em canino superior. O diâmetro médio do canal varia entre 0,88 mm e 2,72 mm, apresentando-se tanto de forma unilateral quanto de forma bilateral. Conclusão: Dada sua prevalência considerável, é fundamental examinar essa estrutura anatômica antes de cirurgias de implantes dentários, já que as variações podem acarretar em complicações, afetando a reabilitação e a qualidade de vida do paciente. O uso de exames de alta resolução, como a tomografia computadorizada de feixe cônico, e um bom entendimento da anatomia maxilar são fundamentais ao planejamento seguro, reduzindo riscos e otimizando os resultados cirúrgicos.

Canalis sinuosus: its anatomical importance and considerations for surgical procedures: a literature review

ABSTRACT

Objectives: To conduct a literature review on the Canalis Sinuosus and its implications in Implantology. Materials and Methods: Articles were collected from the PubMed, Bireme and Scielo databases using the MESH terms under a Boolean strategy: “canalis sinuosus” AND “complications” AND “maxillary anatomy”, between the periods of 2016 until December 2024. Results: A total of 34 articles were found. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 12 articles were selected (9 retrospective, 1 prospective, 1 cross sectional, and 1 descriptive). The frequency of Canalis Sinuosus was 50.86%, been more prevalent in males, located between the upper and lateral central incisors, and in some cases at the upper canines. The mean diameter ranges from 0.88 mm to 2.72 mm, showing itself as unilateral or bilateral forms. Conclusion: Due to its considerable prevalence, it is fundamental to exam this structure before surgeries for dental implants, since variations can lead to complications, affecting the rehabilitation and the quality of life of the patient. Therefore, the use of high-resolution exams, such as cone beam computed tomography, and a good understanding of the maxillary anatomy are essential for safe planning in Implantology, reducing the risks and optimizing the surgical results.
